5 Reasons Why You Need an Electric Wok

by Lisa P | More from this Blogger

1. Easy stir fry. Have you ever tried to make stir fry in a regular pan? Chances are, unless you are Emeril, you end up pushing meat and veggies off the side of the pan left and right. Nothing beats a wok for stir fry and an electric wok prevents you from having to stand over a hot stove to cook.

2. Frying chicken or fish. Electric woks are great for frying chicken or fish. You can regulate the temperature much easier than you can with a stove top and pan. An electric wok also provides you with more space so that you don?t have to cram your chicken or fish together, or worse yet, cook several successive batches just to feed your family once.

3. Warming foods. Many electric woks come with shelf attachments. You can place your food on the shelf and add enough water to the bottom of the wok to create a bit of steam and you've got an easy way to warm food up.

4. Steaming vegetables. Steamer baskets are a dime a dozen and some woks even come with them. Steaming vegetables is a great way to cook them without boiling out all the nutrients. Steamed vegetables are both tasty and healthy, so why not give them a try?

5. An electric wok can stay warm all day. If you are entertaining a large group of people and want to set up a buffet, an electric wok can pull double duty as a chafing dish. Why serve cold Swedish Meatballs when you can keep them warm without spending a bundle on fancy chafing dishes?

The key to an electric wok is to not get hung up on only using it for Chinese food. An electric wok is a very versatile appliance that can be used in many more ways than those I've mentioned above. Just think outside the wok!
