The Pets Blog Week in Review for Sep 10-16

If you missed any of the Pets Blog last week you’ve clicked the right place to catch up. Here’s what Aimee and I wrote on: Monday, September 10 I related the big fun Murph has with his flying monkey. (Nope, they’re not just for Dorothy and Toto to play with anymore.) Oh what a tangled web we weave…when we walk our dogs? Well, when Aimee walks her dogs. She becomes the Amazing Spider Head! And because of her encounters, it got her to wondering about poisonous spiders. Best to know what they look like in case she comes across them. … Continue reading

Amazing Chocolate Bites

I saw this recipe today and I have to share it with you. Yes, it takes a little preparation time, but trust me, from the looks of the recipe and the picture I saw, it’s well worth the time. Getting the Routines Back in Order

Somewhere between the middle of September and the end of October, the morning and evening routines started to get out of whack. The kids bedtime tended to drift further and further into the evening, and the chaos in the morning started to increase. From tired melt downs to kids who forgot their homework folders or lunch, it was time to get things back into a routine and do it right away. Our family tends to be more on the creative side and less on the structured side. A house full of free spirits with no sense of time will ruin … Continue reading

The Curse of Inertia

What’s inertia, you say? An object a rest tends to stay at rest. An object in motion tends to stay in motion. That, more or less, is inertia. I have a hard time with inertia some days. Inertia makes me not want to leave the house. Inertia makes me turn down invitations from friends. Those days, I am an object at rest and I want to stay at rest. Today I fought off inertia to go have lunch with some friends at a pretty park in Portland. I really wanted to stay home. The morning was off to a bad … Continue reading

A Valentine’s Treat: Truffles

Have you ever eaten a truffle? If not, you must try one. They’re creamy, rich, and delicious. A good truffle can cost you more than $2.00 in a chocolate shop. But the good news is that you can make them at home and surprise your sweetheart for much less. Sometimes truffles are served in gourmet chocolate shops with a hard chocolaty coating, but more popularly, they are simply rolled in cocoa powder or confectioner’s sugar for a melt-in-your-mouth treat you won’t soon forget. If you’re wondering what sweet treat to make the love of your life this holiday, truffles are … Continue reading

Basic Easy Brownies

I recently wrote all about chocolate. I consider it unfair. . .perhaps even down right cruel, to force you to read all about chocolate and not give you any recipes to try. After all, knowing about chocolate isn’t nearly as much fun as eating it! Brownie Know How Brownies are by far my favorite easy dessert. I almost never make brownies from a mix although I have to say that I really cannot tell the difference between homemade brownies and mixed brownies. But I already have the ingredients on hand, and it’s cheaper, so that’s the way I do it. … Continue reading
