How Christmas Creep Can Cost You

If you haven’t seen Christmas decorations and other items in your local stores yet, then my guess is that you’re living outside of the United States, or maybe even the planet. As soon as the back to school items went away (the first week in September!) the Christmas stuff came out. Forget Halloween, those items started being displayed in August. While all of my friends are hunting for those Candy Corn Oreos that have already sold out, I’m avoiding the stores as much as possible, so I can ignore the Christmas creep. There are a few ways that thinking about … Continue reading

Enter the Best Buy – Biggest Loser Sweepstakes

It appears that Best Buy has connected with the Biggest Loser television program in order to create a somewhat confusing sweepstakes. If I understand correctly, the winners will get some of the tools that contestants use on the Biggest Loser Ranch, (without actually visiting the ranch). The full name of this sweepstakes is “The Biggest Loser Meal Plan & Slimcoach Sweepstakes”. It isn’t being held through the Biggest Loser television program itself. Instead, Best Buy, and their reward zone, appear to be hosting it. What does Best Buy have to do with weight loss? I’ve no idea. The only connection … Continue reading

The Quest for the American Girl Doll

My daughter has been wanting an American Girl Doll for at least the last three years. She pours over the catalogue (that is sent a couple of times a year and addressed to the previous occupants) like the contestants from the Biggest Loser would do to the Godiva catalogue. She knows all of the names of the girls, plus the names of their friends. She has read all of the books. I don’t mind the idea of the American Girl Dolls. My daughter has developed a passion for reading chapter books from them, has learned a lot about history, and … Continue reading

We Can Get Fit with Wii: Part 2

JumpStart is a wonderful company that offers a variety of educational items for children. In fact, JumpStart is one of my favorite companies when it comes to educational games and products. Trusted by parents and educators for years, Jumpstart always provides quality and education in a fun and effective manner. Wii Nintendo, is another family company that has long since provided quality entertainment. Wii turned sitting and staring at a screen with a remote in your hand to getting up, laughing and playing with the whole family. Many who are not fans of video games, have changed their minds when … Continue reading

Part Two: Interview with Neil Tejwani, Past Contestant on “Biggest Loser”

In part one I talked about the interview I had with season four contestant, Neil Tejwani and the journey he took that led him to the “Biggest Loser.” This blog continues with that interview. Neil shared a great quote from Albert Einstein that I believe can be inspiring for everyone. It is: “Within every difficulty lies an opportunity.” Neil shared that one of the biggest things he learned from being on the “Biggest Loser” was that people can underestimate the power of their strength and determination to accomplish what they purpose to do. If you apply yourself to something and … Continue reading

Part One: Interview with Neil Tejwani, Past Contestant on “Biggest Loser”

Last week I enjoyed a wonderful and inspiring conversation with Neil Tejwani from season four of “Biggest Loser.” I am very excited about sharing his story as I know it will encourage and motivate others. Neil’s journey to the “Biggest Loser” began in his high school years when a freak injury propelled him to begin overeating. By the time he was 19 or 20 years old, he was up to about 400 pounds. A couple of years later, during a routine doctor appointment, he discovered that he had hit 460 pounds. His doctor informed him that he had high blood … Continue reading

Biggest Loser Contestants Motivate Healthy Wage Members

Yesterday I blogged about an exciting new program called “Healthy Wage.” This program offers incentives to help you lose weight and get healthy. Both are important factors to consider when deciding to make a lifestyle change. It’s not just about losing the weight; it is about creating a healthier you. In this program are five health challenges that members can choose from. One of them is the Biggest Loser Matchup, which was inspired by the hit NBC show, “The Biggest Loser.” This particular challenge invites teams of five people to compete for the most weight lost between May 15 and … Continue reading

Talking to Bob Harper: Trainer from “The Biggest Loser” Part 3

In this final segment of my conference call with Bob Harper, trainer from NBC’s “The Biggest Loser,” we are going to talk about the final component to a healthy lifestyle—-exercise. One of the callers asked Bob how a person can get excited about working out. He pointed out that blogs, such as this one, help motivate people. Bob said that exercise can definitely get monotonous and mundane so we have to find something that will be motivating for us. Some of his suggestions included: Accountability partners (friends), watching “The Biggest Loser,” listening to our Ipods, and reading health books and … Continue reading

Talking to Bob Harper: Trainer From “The Biggest Loser” Part 2

In my last blog I talked about the conference call I participated in with Bob Harper, trainer from the hit TV show “The Biggest Loser.” Bob is working in conjunction with Extra gum for the 3PM Snackdown Challenge. The idea behind this challenge is to put down the snack and instead, pick up a pack of Extra sugar-free gum. Replacing that craving for a sweet treat with a piece of five calorie sugar-free gum is a much healthier alternative. When you go to the website you can enter to win a free training session with Bob Harper. The winner score … Continue reading
