With the cost of living on the rise, I don't know how anyone can afford to eat tons of pre-packaged goodies anymore. Dare I say you will eat better, and for less, if you make your own snacks to go? But finding things that my kids will happily take along can be tricky.

Question: My kids love american cheese. They enjoy in between flour tortillas and heated in the manner of a grilled cheese sandwich. Is there an alternative cheese you could suggest that isn't quite so processed? It is always disconcerting to me to feed my family processed 'anything' food.

Tuesday was baking day this week. My oldest daughter has decided that during the holidays, she wants to bake something nice and give it away. So we set out to make Nestle Toll House Pie. It was her idea so I really wanted to let her do all the work. So I did.

Ice Box cookies are great for class parties, gifts to neighbors or even to brighten up a holiday dessert buffet. These are particularly easy because you roll them into a log and then slice them (as opposed to the kind that you might roll out and use a cookie cutter for).

I was inspired to come up with some quick ideas yesterday because one of my sister in law's has to bring in cup cakes to her child's classroom on Halloween for their school party. She is super busy and just doesn't have a lot of time to decorate cupcakes.

I've decided that whoever came up with the idea of popcorn balls clearly did not have children. If they did their children never had braces! Traditional popcorn balls are frequently impossible to chew, stick to hold and not so easy to make either.

I told you I was on the after school snack bandwagon. This week marks the first week of classes for my kids and with that, I need to start packing snacks. So here is a complete menu of super healthy snacks. But your kids will never know that these are healthy so don't worry! They'll eat it.
