Waffle Blocks Are Back!

Finally, finally, finally! The kids in our family had these wonderful blocks back about 18 years ago. They disappeared about five or so years later and the only way to get them were on the online auctions. As one niece and nephew after another entered our family, I searched for those blocks to buy them for their birthdays and other holidays. They were not in any store. Little Tikes had apparently dropped them. Why? I have no idea, as they were very popular. As I was surfing the internet a couple of weeks back, I saw them. I was very … Continue reading

Tasty Traditions – Holiday Baking

Since I love to bake, it is not surprising that I often find myself thinking about baked goods. At this time of year, I am sure that I am not the only one with cookies on my mind. There is no better time of year for a cookie lover. From office parties to family dinners and everywhere in between, it seems like there is a plate of cookies almost everywhere you go during the holidays. The variety of holiday cookie recipes out there seems to be endless. However, in many families, the same types of cookies are made year after … Continue reading

Happy Waffle Day!

As many of you know, the bloggers were on a break for a little while. They came back right about the time I left for vacation so if you’ll allow me, I am playing catch up. I hope you enjoy some delicious waffles–even if we did miss International Waffle Day! March 25th is International Waffle Day. I thought that International Waffle Day was simply a day to bask in the fluffy goodness of well made waffles. However, after doing my research I’ve discovered that this day is shrouded in controversy and conspiracy. Okay–maybe there’s no conspiracy. But breakfast experts everywhere … Continue reading

Family Road Trip Part 1

It is finally time for my family to take the trip that we have been anticipating for quite a few months, now. This is the first time that we have taken Dylan on a car trip that is longer than six hours. As of right now, we are a little over half way to our destination. The trip from Vermont to Florida is a long one, and it can take anywhere from twenty four hours on upwards, depending upon how many stops are made. We began our journey a little over twenty four hours ago. The first small portion of … Continue reading

Different Stages Of Parenting

It’s amazing how our role as parents change in ways we could have never predicted. When my daughter was born I was full of sunshine and lollipops. This was the best, smartest, most beautiful baby ever! My baby would never throw a temper tantrum or disobey; she would always be reasonable and willing to listen to Mommy and Daddy because we know best. We were going to be best friends, my baby girl and I, always doing things together, painting our nails, talking, baking, decorating the Christmas tree, pure bliss I tell you. Those first few months, when really, she … Continue reading

Beyonce Warns Against the Maple Syrup Diet

“I’m very conscious of being a curvy woman and I’m very happy that I am a curvy woman. I would never recommend it to anyone unless you are doing a movie and it’s necessary, and you have proper help” Beyonce said. ”As soon as it was over, I gained the weight back.” Beyonce added. Celebrities are known to go to extremes to fit a role. Beyonce lost 20 pounds in a short amount of time for a movie role. Christian Bale lost over 60 pounds for his role in The Machinist. Robert De Niro gained 60 pounds for Raging Bull. … Continue reading

The One Thing You DON’T Want To See On An Airplane

“Mommy, these microphones don’t work!” my 3-year-old daughter exclaimed as she ripped off a pair of oversized airline-supplied headphones in disgust during our most recent flight to Hawaii. Note to self: Pack kid-sized headphones for next airplane ride. “Alvin and the Chipmunks” was the in-flight movie selection for this particular leg of our journey and my daughter couldn’t have been more thrilled. “Hurry Mommy hurry!” she cried as I hastily tried to make adjustments to the plane’s complimentary (see: cheap) headphones. “I’m missing Theodore eat his waffles.” “You can see Theodore eat his waffles right on the screen,” I replied. … Continue reading

Ben & Jerry’s: The Socially Conscientious Ice Cream

I started writing this blog because it was recently announced that the popular ice cream brand was going to name its newest flavor after political comedian Stephen Colbert. The newest flavor, Stephen Colbert’s Americone Dream will feature vanilla ice cream with fudge covered pieces of waffle cone and swirls of caramel. Of the honor, Colbert says: “Dessert has a well-known liberal agenda. What I hope to do with this ice cream is bring some balance back to the freezer case.” (In case you’re not a Colbert fan. . .yes, that was wry humor dripping in sarcasm. . .we think.) Ben … Continue reading
