Having A Party? Don't Forget The Drinks!by Catherine Ipcizade | More from this Blogger 26 Dec 2006 09:21 PM Working over a hot stove to prepare for a party may leave you exhausted. But don't forget-your guests will be thirsty, too! Here are some delightfully simple and delicious drinks ALL your guests will enjoy. Christmas-Style Punch 2 packages red hots (optional) 2 small cans frozen lemonade 2 small cans frozen orange juice 2 small cans frozen pineapple juice 2 bottles cranberry juice 4 qt. ginger ale This can be made up to a day or two ahead of time. If you're using the red hots, melt in 3 cuts of hot water before mixing with the other juices. Add the chilled ginger ale just before serving. Hot Buttered Pineapple Drink 1 can pineapple juice ¼ packed brown sugar 2 TB. Butter 10 whole cloves 3 cinnamon sticks 1 sliced lemon In a saucepan, combine all ingredients except lemon slices. Bring to a boil; simmer 5 minutes. Add lemon slices and serve in mugs. Iced Cranberry Slush 32 ounces cranberry juice 28 ounces ginger ale 12 ounce can frozen lemonade, thawed Mix all ingredients and freeze in an airtight container. Thaw 10 minutes before serving. Spiced Grape Juice 2 TB. Grated orange rind 3 TB. Lemon juice 1 cup boiling water 2 TB. Sugar 1 qt. grape juice 4 whole cloves 1/8 tsp. cinnamon Soak the orange rind, lemon juice, water and sugar for 15 minutes. Add grape juice, cloves and cinnamon and simmer 15 minutes. Serve hot or chill and serve with shaved ice. Frothy Punch 3 qt. cold ginger ale 1 qt. sherbet (raspberry, pineapple or lime) 1 large package of frozen strawberries Pour the ginger ale into the punch bowl. Add the sherbet and strawberries, juice included. Let it set for one hour before serving to allow the sherbet to melt and flavor the ginger ale. As an alternative, if you use pineapple, you can add a can of pineapple chunks.
