Leftovers: Good Idea or Bad?

(Here are some ideas for Unconventional Leftovers.) But, are leftovers really a good idea? Let us take a look. Leftovers Can Make your Sick (BAD) Since I hate wasting money, I’m reluctant to toss out food. Taken too far, this could make me sick, when leftovers are too old or haven’t been stored properly. Getting leftovers refrigerated or frozen immediately, labeling leftovers with a date, and … Continue reading

Should You Be Raising Chickens?

My best friend’s niece raises chickens in her backyard.  Now, this may not seem too abnormal, but to me it is – she lives in the middle of Memphis.  But, even city folks are starting to appreciate raising their own chickens.  Having your own chickens helps not only feed your belly (and in a fresh way too!), but can reduce your impact on the environment.  Plus, the chicken manure is great for composting. Before you rush out and purchase all you need for chickens, you first need to make sure it is legal.  If you live in the city, there … Continue reading

Crusty Meatloaf Using Leftovers

Since Michele is sharing her recipes for leftovers I thought I’d share one of mine too. This meatloaf recipe is one that when I first became gluten free, I took on nearly every picnic we went to as it works well cold. It is also an excellent way of using leftover meat from a roast lamb or beef, though I wouldn’t recommend using corned beef. The crusty texture comes from the cheese batter poured over the loaf. Crusty Meatloaf Ingredients 1 egg yolk Half cup sifted quinoa flour Half cup water 12 ounces cooked lamb or beef 6 ounces shredded … Continue reading

Not wanting to upset my mom I did some research and found a couple of incredibly delicious ways to use up extra bread. The following recipes are simple and tasty enough to even get non-bread … Continue reading
