Get Ready to Grill

May is National BBQ month. It is also the time of year that we honor the special ladies in our lives who have spent countless hours slaving over hot stoves to get dinner on the table. So what better time to say thank you then by firing up the grill and whipping up a simple (yet delicious) meal for M-O-M. For the past few days I have been guest blogging in FOOD with the hopes of inspiring semi-regular cooks to get in the kitchen and let their culinary skills take over. If you are unfamiliar with the different types of cheese, I hope this information will help. Cheese Storage Tip: The best place to store cheese is on the bottom shelf of the refrigerator. Preferably in the crisper drawer. Hard cheeses can be stored in the freezer if … Continue reading

Blue Cheese Crusted Filet Mignon with Sauce

Some people do not care for it, but personally, I love the taste of blue cheese. I guess it was because, as a child, my mom usually got blue cheese dressing for her salad, so I naturally wanted to taste it. When I did, I really enjoyed the taste. What makes blue cheese blue is it has penicillium (a fungus) injected into it, giving it the blue-green mold look. Now all that may sound bad, but I do truly love the taste of blue cheese, as do many others. When I found this recipe, I vowed to make it to … Continue reading
