A summer thunderstorm can wreck havoc on your outdoor plans, but it doesn't mean that it has to wash out a perfectly good day off from school. Instead of letting your children climb the walls while the showers comes pouring down outside, herd them into the kitchen and whip up some rainy day fun with these kid-friendly recipes.

The first is a simple and delicious (not to mention nutritious) turkey wrap. It's a great alternative to the same ol' summer sandwiches and a clever way to get your kids to eat vegetables. Also, turkey is kid pleaser, low in calories, and complements the wraps other ingredients.

The hamburger cookie recipe is a wonderful way to keep your kids busy for a couple of hours. And the best part for moms and dads---there's no cooking involved! The recipe calls for store bought cookies (though, you could whip up a basic sugar cookie to substitute if you have the time and inclination), frosting, candy and your kids' imagination.

Ingredients:

1 Flour Tortilla

2 oz. cream cheese

Shredded romaine lettuce

4 cucumber slices, julienne

Turkey deli meat

Shaved or slivered almonds

Directions:

HAMBURGER COOKIES

Red and yellow gel food coloring

40 vanilla wafers

Top each "bun" with the peppermint patties, then spread red frosting on vanilla wafer "bun" tops.

Brush tops of remaining vanilla wafers with corn syrup and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
