There are lots of things I like–but one thing that stands out here vs just a plain old freelance writing job, is the community. You get to know … Continue reading

No Bake Chocolate Cookies

At some point last year, I started to realize that we were spending an astronomical amount of money on snacks. I don’t always have the time to make my kids’ snacks. . .nor do I even have the time to buy in bulk and divide them into baggies. But I made a concerted effort to stop buying quite so many pre-packaged snacks. Since the twins are older. . .I imagine that I’ll be making even more snacks this year. In any case, no bake cookies rank high on our list of take along goodies. One reason I like them is … Continue reading

Loaded Brickle Cookies

This is just about the best cookie in the whole wide world. If you’re a big fan of cookies that are full of chewy chips and crunchy nutty goodness–you have to try these. Truth be told, I’m a fan of anything that has white chocolate chips in them. Another secret that I use is that when I’m short on time, I simply spread cookies out in a couple of large pie plates and cook them that way. They do come out slightly more gooey–but can you really complain about gooey when you’re talking about cookies? This way too, you can … Continue reading

Tips for a Successful Bake Sale

A few days ago I wrote about the Great American Bake Sale. It is one of the charities that our little Lemonade Stand will support this summer. If one other reader decides that they too will hold a bake sale this year, I’m happy. You can read more about what to do and how to do it at The Great American Bake Sale Website. (If you want a free lemonade stand, check out Sunkist’s give away. We generally combine the lemonade stand with the bake sale to maximize our efforts. While I’ll be the first to admit that running a … Continue reading

Hershey’s and Starbucks Team Up

Someone recently asked me what I liked about going to the Y for my children’s classes. My first response was: “Well, it’s in a great location! There’s a Starbucks on each corner!” Even my kids know what Starbucks is (although just to be clear I do NOT let the kids drink coffee–strictly hot chocolate or vanilla crème for them!) So when the latest news of a Hershey’s-Starbucks partnership emerged–I was more than a little pleased! The deal, representatives of both companies say, comes at a time when consumers are demanding premium brand chocolates. The products will be sold in retail … Continue reading
