Budget Recipes – Bacon, Lettuce, and Tomato Sandwiches

There is something uniquely satisfying about a great sandwich. Typically, sandwiches are made for lunch, but they can also be a quick and tasty dinner. It is pretty easy to stay within your budget by serving a meal of sandwiches, and you can choose to add fresh veggies to them. One of my favorite sandwiches is a BLT. Bacon isn’t just for breakfast anymore! It also makes an excellent addition to a salad or a sandwich. Bacon is a food that even the pickiest of eaters will decide to eat. You can’t go wrong with bacon. This week, Albertson’s has … Continue reading

I am now in the process of organizing my egg recipes so I can put these protein rich ovals to good use. If you too are looking for simple yet tasty ways to incorporate incredible, edible eggs into your menu, consider the following: SPRING VEGETABLE OMELET Ingredients: 2 tablespoons … Continue reading

Similar to the heated milk study from Mount Sinai School of Medicine, a group of researchers from the University of Athens looked at a way to desensitize children with egg allergies. The study looked at nearly a hundred children under the age of four who were referred to the food allergy department at the University of Athens. More than half the children had been diagnosed with an egg allergy after eating eggs; the rest of the children showed sensitivity to eggs in skin tests. Many of the participants also had some form of eczema (a chronic itchy and/or scaly rash). … Continue reading

Egg-cellent Egg Recipes

Here’s a fact about me that very, very few people know: When I was pregnant with my daughter I didn’t crave ice cream, pickles or greasy cheeseburgers; rather during the last four months of my pregnancy all I could think about was deviled eggs. Kate Middleton’s baby is due to arrive any day now. The royal newborn will make the Duchess and Prince William first-time parents. It’s hard to tell who is more excited about the impending birth—Kate and Wills or the paparazzi. Middleton is said to be counting down the days to motherhood by clothes shopping near her parents’ home. Her retail therapy is a far cry from her hospitalization for severe morning sickness earlier in her pregnancy. Duchess Kate admitted to suffering from an acute form of morning sickness called hyperemesis gravidarum.  The serious-sounding condition can level even the toughest moms-to-be.  Doctors … Continue reading
