Potatoes for Your Father's Day Steakby Valorie Delp | More from this Blogger 10 Jun 2008 03:13 AM Last year, I struggled with what to feed my spouse for Father's Day. I wanted it to be unique, different, and delicious. I wanted it to be a four star meal. . .but I wanted the kids to help. (And yes, four star meal and kids helping generally don't go in the same sentence.) After all my contemplating, I finally decided on making enchiladas--my husband's favorite dish. Now this year, there is no such dilemma. We are going to my in-laws and so no doubt, we will be inundated with good food. (My mother-in-law could seriously give Martha Stewart a run for her money.) But with every good steak comes good potatoes and so this year, I've gone through my old recipes to find that perfect potato recipe. This is one of my favorite potato sides to go with a good grilled steak. It is something my kids actually love. Which is probably why I love it. On the other hand, the Old Bay Seasoning makes the fries sophisticated--so you're not just eating plain old french fries. Old Bay Oven Fries You will need: Yukon Gold potatoes olive oil sea salt old bay seasoning Directions: I've deliberately left the measurements off of this recipe. I know, I know, for those of you who have the NEED for exact precise measurements; this is killing you. But the beauty in these homemade fries is you can season them to taste so with that said. . . Slice the potatoes into "homestyle fries", cutting lengthwise. Place the potatoes in a large baggie and then sprinkle with olive oil. Toss to coat. In a bowl, place sea salt and Old Bay Seasoning and mix together. Sprinkle in baggie and again, toss to coat. Layer fries in a baking sheet with a rim. Bake in the oven until they are soft, turning once during baking. Generally takes about 20 minutes depending on how many potatoes you have.
