Stay Cool with these Amazing Sorbet Treats!

Here are two great sorbet recipes to help combat the heat we have all been suffering from lately. Both are easy and yet refreshing!

Amazing Banana Sorbet

For this recipe, you will need white sugar, water, and 3 bananas. To prep for this recipe, you will need to peel and mash the bananas. It should make about one cup.

Over high heat, combine 1 cup of white sugar and 1 cup of water in a small saucepan. Let that being to boil, then remove it from the heat and let it cool. Once it is cool, add the cup of mashed bananas. Stir well. Pour that mixture into a sealable bowl that is safe for the freezer. Let this freeze for about 3 to 4 hours. Remove it from the freezer and using an electric mixer, beat it in a mixing bowl until smooth. Return to the freezer for another two hours then it is ready to serve!

Pink Grapefruit Sorbet

For this recipe, you will need 3 large grapefruits, white sugar, light corn syrup, water, and red food coloring (optional). To prêt for this recipe, scrub your grapefruits.

Using a zester or vegetable peeler, remove three long strips of the grapefruit peel. Set that aside. Halve and squeeze the grapefruits enough to get 2 cups of juice. Pour the juice through a strainer to remove any pulp or seeds.

Over high heat, combine the grapefruit peelings, 1 cup of white sugar, 1/4 cup of corn syrup, and 4 cups of water in a medium saucepan. Stir well and once it begins to boil, remove it from the heat, remove the grapefruit peel, and let it cool.

Stir the 2 cups of grapefruit juice into the sugar mixture. If you want to add the red food coloring now, add one drop at a time until it reaches a grapefruit pink color. Pour this into the container of an ice cream maker and freeze according to directions. Then transfer it to a container and let it freeze until it is firm. You can garnish it with small mint leaves if desired.
