Do you have a recipe that's so fabulous you're sure it would win first prize if entered into a cooking contest? I have never entered a cooking contest but I've often thought about entering some of my original creations. After all, you can't win if you don't enter. The problem is that I'm very good at figuring out what tastes good but I'm not good at actually measuring it. My cooking tends to look or feel and there are lots of directions like: 'season to taste'.

In any case, if you've been itching to give a recipe a try in a cooking contest, here is a list of contests that are going on right now:

Better Homes & Gardens: Your Best Recipe Contest

You can submit a recipe in any of 7 categories. The grand prize is $40,000. Contest ends June. 30.

USA Rice Federation: Rev Up Your Rice!

Submit an original rice recipe. Grand prize is $5,000. Contest ends soon--April 15th!

NordicWare: Bundts Across America

Submit a bundt cake recipe that celebrates one of 10 possible American holidays. Contest ends September 1.

Near East Rice: Near East Share Your Savvy Creations

Enter a recipe using any Near East variety couscous or rice. Grand prize is $2,000. Contest ends April 30.

Cooking Light Magazine: Ultimate Reader Recipe Contest

Submit original recipes in one of four categories. Grand prize is $20,000. Contest ends April 30.
